It’s no surprise when those who work in the building trade decide to create their own house.
But for the owners of this self-build, it’s becoming a bit of a habit.
Grange Meadows in Stenhousemuir is the fourth such project for Stuart and Gillian Cox, and now they are considering their fifth.
It means that this five-bedroom, individually designed villa is on the market, and Gillian would love to see it going to a growing family.
She said: “The house has features that we have liked about other properties such as the doors, large rooms, kitchen/diner and lots of space downstairs.
“It’s also in a really nice, quiet location, and the garden is very private and secluded.
“But it’s still close to local amenities like the new St Bernadette’s Primary, the train station and the Stables bar.
“It was a great house when the children were younger, but they all have their own lives now so we’re downsizing.”
Although just seven years old, the house has recently had a revamp, including new bathrooms, decor and carpets, while a decking area has been added to the garden.
Despite its size, the house is also very fuel efficient thanks to its excellent insulation.
The couple are also proud of the house’s quality finishing touches, from custom-made curtains and pre-finished doors to skirtings and architraves.
Gillian added: “My husband has been a builder for over 30 years, so the quality of finishings is very important to us.
“I think it’s a lovely family home and I hope another family will be happy here.”
The Grange Meadows property is on the market with Russel + Aitken estate agents at offers over £285,000. For more information, contact (01324) 622888.
