When Stuart and Susan MacKelvie found the perfect plot for a house in West Plean, they were quick to create a home which took advantage of the views on offer.
This four-bedroom detached is surrounded by open countryside, giving fantastic vistas from the front and the back.
And, in keeping with the natural theme of the house, a lot of attention has been paid to making it as energy efficient as possible.
Owner and builder Stuart said: “We thought this location was amazing and the views are fantastic.
“It’s also very close to motorways and towns, but yet it’s isolated.
“We’ve built in as much insulation as possible. It’s not technically an eco-house, but it’s definitely moving towards that.
“It’s a very efficient house to run.”
To build on the views and the eco-nature of the property, a host of attractive features have been added.
Downstairs is the open-plan kitchen and dining room, while the master bedroom is also on the lower level to keep it nice and cool.
Upstairs is a second lounge, again to take advantage of the views, a study for at-home working and guest bedrooms.
Stuart added: “We built it as a family home, but it would also suit an older couple.
“If mobility was an issue, all the necessities for everyday living – the kitchen, a bathroom and bedroom – are on the ground floor.
“We’ve also found that it’s a really social house. Guests just sit at the breakfast bar while you’re making dinner and take in the views.”
The property in Bore Road, West Plean, is on the market with Alexander Taylor estate agents at offers over £285,000. For more information, contact (01324) 319013.
