Not many hospitals have football teams, but back in the 1930s they were quite common.
Russell MacGillivray from Larbert remembers his dad, who ran the Stirling & District Mental Hospital (now Bellsdyke Hospital) team, pictured above in the 1931-32 season.
Mr MacGillivray said: “Many of the players were to be our neighbours in Plantation Cottages. I think that most of their games were against the staff of other mental hospitals. Home games were played on a huge pitch – it seemed to be as big as Hampden Park or Ochilview and it was usually in great condition.
“There was a wooden pavilion providing the changing facilities.”
