Falkirk’s foundries are credited with driving the industrial revolution.

While they no longer exist, they remain an important part of the district’s heritage.

The illuminating image above is taken from one of the local foundries by The Falkirk Herald some time in the 1950s and is held at the Falkirk Archives in Callendar House.

Archivist Jean Jamieson said: “We have it catalogued as an unidentified foundry with an estimated date of the 1950s. As it is a Falkirk Herald photo, it is safe to assume that the foundry is somewhere in the Falkirk district. It would be interesting to know where it is and if anyone can identify any of the men.”
