Health and safety rules have changed a lot over the decades and people often reminisce about how they used to go about their working lives.
Men sitting in open-backed trucks for a lift home would certainly not be allowed in this day and age.
However, this was the norm for men who worked for the Callendar Brick Company Ltd in the “auld days”.
James Sharp from Shieldhill sent in this photograph.
He said: “These are some of the workers from the Glen Brick Works who worked for the Callendar Brick Company Ltd.
“They have just finished a hard shift and are about to jump on the lorry for a lift home.
“I don’t know any of the names or even when the picture was taken but if anyone can shed any light on this I’d be grateful.”
