Looking back: Sad demise of Grangemouth Railway Station in 1975
This sorry sight is Grangemouth railway station in 1975, seven years after the last passenger trains stopped at its platform.
The station closed on January 29, 1968, with its demise being blamed on declining passenger numbers at the time.
In the years since, there have been various attempts to reopen the station but so far they have all hit the buffers, with cost usually being the reason.
However, four decades on there are still many who believe the dream can become a reality.
