Falkirk Bairn remembers roots in new book

A proud Falkirk Bairn has had his book about his hometown published. Jack Gillon, who was born and bred in the town before moving to Edinburgh, pieced together a bibliographic look at Falkirk using old and new images called Falkirk Through Time.

The 96-page book features pictures of local landmarks like the High Street, Erskine Church, Brockville and the old Falkirk High School in Rennie Street. It also focuses on famous Bairns such as Robert Dollar and events like the Battle of Falkirk.

It is the author’s fourth book and one that re-acquaint’s the Bairn with some of his old haunts locally.

Jack’s previous publications include Eccentric Edinburgh (1990), Edinburgh in the 1950s (2104) and Leith Through Time (2014).The book is published by Amberley.
