Denny resident Allan Gillies has published his second book about the history of the town.

Allan’s first book ‘Memories: Growing Up In Denny and Dunipace in the 1950s and 1960s’ came out in 2012 to great success with all 700 copies selling out in just 10 days. Allan donated £2000 from the proceeds to Strathcarron Hospice.

Last Sunday saw the launch of his second publication, ‘Past Pictures and Stories of Denny and Dunipace’, which is on sale in Strathcarron Hospice, the Fruit Basket and William Hill bookmakers in Denny town centre, and Dunipace Newsagents in Stirling Street.

Allan (66), the former head of libraries, heritage and culture at Stirling Council, said: “The front cover portrays Denny police station from 20 years ago but it was demolished a couple of years ago. Denny has lost many of its buildings.”
