Raising money for charity isn’t a new phenomenon, as highlighted in a local magazine in 1974.
Isobel Hannah was ‘Club Girl of the Month’ in the ‘United Club’ publication, which ran for a short period during that decade promoting the work of local clubs.
Isobel was a member of Camelon Labour Club at the time and was raising cash to help disabled children in the area.
The article read: “Isobel is proposing to have 200 people attending her dance .
“Isobel herself is a nursing assistant and has been a member of the Camelon Labour Club for a few years now. She is well liked and is looking for help.
Some clubs may be interested in chatting to Isobel with a view to offering their facilities for such a good cause.
“Keep up the good work Isobel – help is on its way!”.
