If Callum and Fiona Stuart could pack up their lovely, four-bedroomed house and take it with them – neighbours and all – they wouldn’t hesitate.
“It is a fantastic family home and a great neighbourhood. We have really enjoyed living here,” said Callum.
The couple are relocating to be closer to family, but they are leaving their substantial villa in Falkirk which they moved into when it was newly built in 2004, with more than a pang of regret.
“We really liked the fact it was such a spacious house but the thing that really sold it to us was the master bedroom,” said Callum. “It’s a really big, spacious room and it has massive double wardrobes with really excellent storage.”
Among the improvements they made to the house was exchanging the bath in the en-suite for a luxury whirlpool bath, in addition to a separate shower.
They also converted half the double garage into a room which they used as a play room.
“One of the things we liked was the accommodation is very flexible. There are lots of different ways you could set the rooms out.
“For example, we did consider that we could change the family room into a downstairs bedroom if that was ever needed.”
The spacious living room has an elegant bay window as a focal point.
And as well as the large kitchen which has a good selection of integral appliances, there is also a utility room, which leads to the integral garage and outside.
Also off the kitchen is a bright, attractive breakfasting room, which nicely complements the more formal dining room.
The breakfast room has patio doors which lead to the garden.
“Another thing we really like is that the garden catches the sun all afternoon and well into the evening.
“We have a large patio area and because it gets the sun for such a good length of time it’s a great spot for barbecues in the summer.
I also particularly like the fact that it isn’t overlooked – it’s on a corner plot, so it’s very private, which is unusual for a modern house.”
The family also like the house’s location with lots open green spaces nearby – ideal for the children playing – as well as good walking routes nearby. It is also an easy cycle journey to either the Kelpies or to the Falkirk Wheel.
There are also two small playparks close by – ideal for the many families with children of all ages.
