Luxury Falkirk home brings the outside in

When Alison Coutts was asked to list three favourite things about her home, she answered, ‘‘Just three?’’.

It’s not difficult to see why she struggled when you realise all that this impressive, cheery four-bedroom property in Achray Drive has to offer.

Sitting close to nature trails and cycle paths, no. 62’s generous design, high ceilings and extensive glazing invites the outside in.

The result is a bright, spacious home with a location to suit practically any lifestyle.

“The location was certainly a big plus for me,” said Alison, who has lived in the house for over seven years.

“I liked the fact it was in Falkirk but had a countryside feel.

“It’s the best of both worlds.”

Inside, this tastefully-decorated L-shaped property, you get an instant feel of space, brightness and flexibility.

Downstairs, there’s a spacious formal lounge, a family TV room, and a home office, all finished to a high quality.

But a highlight of the ground floor is the kitchen, with an informal dining area.

Alison said: “It’s very flexible.

“I work from home sometimes, but the study could be a fifth bedroom.

“The TV room was a dining room on the plan, but rather than have a room I’d use twice a year, we use it as a family room.

“The kitchen is 23 feet long so there’s room for the dining table.

“I like having people for dinner but like them to be in the same room.

“It’s a great room, and it opens out on to the decking which is nice.

“It’s a very social, bright kitchen.”

The double-height feature staircase leading on to a large upper gallery, and four bedrooms - two with en suite - and a family bathroom.

The same neutral carpet threads its way through the property upstairs, adding to the bright and airy atmosphere.

Alison is now looking to downsize with her son heading off for university.

She said: “I’ve really enjoyed being here, and now it’s here for someone else to enjoy.

“I think the location is wonderful - you can walk to Falkirk High Station in no more than 10 minutes or travel to Edinburgh or Glasgow by train or car.

“One of the other advantages is the really good neighbours.

“Everyone is really fun, but keep themselves to themselves.”
