Gardener's cottage still in bloom

When Clair and Lawrence Fletcher first fell in love with this gorgeous cottage in Dunipace, they knew it was the place for them.

As the original house of the Denovan Estate gardener and dating back to Victorian times, its charm and countryside setting stole the hearts of the couple almost six years ago.

It’s also been a dream house to raise their two boys who love the house, the gardens, and the rural feel.

Clair said: “My children don’t want to move, it’s been a fairytale house for them. I keep telling them our next house will be just as good, but I think that may be an empty promise.

“The surroundings
really are beautiful. It’s so peaceful.”

But this house is not always so peaceful inside. The Fletchers say the size of the house and the way the layout flows from the kitchen, dining room, and lounge make it a fabulous place for a party. ‘‘We have had some great parties here,” Clair said.

“Since we bought the house, our friends decided that all the parties should be here.”

The rest of the house is just as appealing. With four generous bedrooms across this one-and-a-half storey property, it also has an ensuite and a family bathrom with double jacuzzi bath.

Clair said: “The kids love the bath; they think they’re in a swimming pool.”

Despite its rural location, travelling into Denny or commuting further afield is a doddle. A five-minute walk over the Dale bridge takes you into town, while Clair and Lawrence have had no trouble commuting to work in Fife and South Lanarkshire.

Clair added: “We’re only moving due to circumstances, but the countryside is something we will really miss.”
