Homeowners who settle for a town centre spot usually have to compromise on a few things.
Traffic, noise and a limited amount of outdoor space are sacrifices some are willing to make for the convenience of a central location.
But this property in Oswald Street doesn’t ask its owners to make concessions.
The individually-built, chalet-style house sits in the centre of Falkirk in a quiet cul-de-sac.
Owner Janice Frame has lived here for 24 years and loves how the house offers the same level of peace and quiet as a far more rural location.
The mum-of-three said: “It’s slap bang in the middle of the town but you don’t get that feel, it’s surprising how quiet the street is.
“There’s no through traffic so it’s very peaceful.
“It’s also a very light house, with a south-facing garden, so, on a sunny day, light fills the rooms and it’s nice and bright.”
Over the years, this detached villa has been renovated and upgraded, but the structure and size have remained true to the original design.
The most recent work done includes a complete overhaul of the kitchen and a stylish new family bathroom.
The breakfasting kitchen now boosts an integral five-burner hob, a double oven and a good-sized utility room, while the bathroom has a slick look and separate shower unit.
And, despite being a stone’s throw from some of the top entertainment spots in the town, this house is perfect for a party.
“My favourite part has to be the large lounge,” said Mrs Frame.
“It has the raised platform, or the stage as we like to call it.
“It’s great for parties and we’ve certainly had a few people take to the ‘stage’ and use it as a dance floor.
“We have changed this area’s use over the years.
“It’s been a dining area or just a space for having a drink in front of the fire.
“That’s one of the things about the entire house, it’s very flexible.
“A room we’re using as a dining room just now could be used as a bedroom, making it a five-bedroom house.”
Other features of the house include a large master bedroom and en suite, a downstairs WC and Karndean flooring.
Mrs Frame added: “It’s been a great family home, fantastic for young children and very spacious.
“There’s been a lot of love and laughs in this house, and whoever gets it is also getting that legacy.”
