When you’re on the hunt for a house, it’s a fair bet you’d think yourself lucky to stumble on one owned by an aspiring interior designer.
And that’s just what we have here, as Laura Duncan is currently training to add that skill to her current profession of surveyor.
So, as you’d expect, this house is beautifully decorated to make the most of its large, light-filled rooms. But there’s much more to it that that.
Living with husband Michael as well as her six-year-old and three-year-old boys, this is not simply a show home – it’s also a welcoming house, with a fantastic social space at its heart.
The couple extended it recently and the result is a beautiful, flexible family area that is flooded with light, thanks to the fantastic large glass doors, which allow access to the recently landscaped gardens. These include a decked area – made with a mixture of recycled wood and plastic to make it non-slip.
“The garden is a really social space,” says Laura. “It’s really sunny and great for kids.”
With a beautiful open plan dining room/fitted kitchen and a very elegant lounge – not to mention a hall large enough for a piano to sit in easily – it’s little wonder that Laura is reluctantly leaving. Other plus points include a utility room which leads into the spacious double garage.
Upstairs, she also loves the master bedroom which is ensuite, while the other four bedrooms are also good sizes, with an impressive family bathroom.
The entire house has been redecorated in the last 18 months. “It’s good practice!” says Laura.
The property in The Grange, Brightons, is on the market with RGM Solicitors, Grangemouth, for offers in the region of £350,000. For more information call (01324) 319027.
