Gabriele Panozzo, chef and owner of The Wooer, stressed that food remains the main focus of the cafe and restaurant but they are keen to match certain dishes with "a good wine".
The town centre restaurant on Wooer Street was previously licenced but this had been allowed to lapse before Mr Panozzo took over, so they have been operating with occasional licences.

Councillors heard that there are plans being made through Falkirk Delivers to create a courtyard with a "cosmopolitan feel" by rejuvenating an area at the top of the lane.
Currently used as a bin store, this would see it be transformed into a place where people could enjoy a coffee, drink or snack.
Eventually, the courtyard would be shared by several neighbouring businesses but plans are still at an early stage, so councillors were advised that this application should be taken on its own merits.

The Wooer was also granted an off-sales licence so customers can buy a bottle of wine to take home if they had enjoyed it with a meal.
Councillors unanimously approved the application.
