Step into the back garden of this three-bedroomed, semi-detached villa and you could imagine yourself in a rural retreat, surrounded by wildlife, rather than somewhere that is just a 10-minute walk to the town centre.
That’s one of the things that owner Nicola Corbett will miss when she leaves her home in Camelon, where she and her family have lived for the past eight years.
In that time, she and husband Ross have transformed the garden into an ideal family zone, with a large lawn that provided space for their children to play, alongside a patio area for socialising or simply relaxing and enjoy watching the wildlife that comes to visit.
“I like that we are near a main road but it feels like you are really off the beaten track,” said Nicola.
“In the back garden, with all the wildlife, you wouldn’t realise how close you are to town.”
The house, which was built 118 years ago is packed full of character with fascinating features, such as the original servants’ bells, a stunning lounge fireplace and beautifully crafted bay windows.
There are also deep set skirting boards and ornate cornicing.
Amazingly, the house has retained its original woodwork throughout – including the sweeping staircase which has been beautifully preserved.
Some lovely, hand-painted stained glass enhances the period feel.
“The stained glass is really beautiful when the sun is shining through it. I love all the details,” said Nicola.
“You just don’t get that kind of workmanship nowadays,” she added.
And yet this is no museum – it is a bright, attractive family home.
An earlier extension to the house created an open plan kitchen and sitting area which means the house is very much a family home to be lived in and enjoyed.
“The open plan area is great – the kids can do their home work while I’m cooking, for example,” said Nicola. “It’s also really good for entertaining.”
The large, fitted kitchen has a patio door that leads out into the garden, ideal for sunny days.
The family have been keen to embrace the blend of new and old, so their family bathroom features a classic roll-top bath along with a modern shower, giving the best of both worlds.
The bathroom is on the upstairs level alongside two double bedrooms which provide plenty of space for the family.
