The wedding of Melissa Christie and Colin Gordon
HOW THEY MET: They both attended the 2009 T in the Park festival at Balado with mutual friends. After they got talking in the camp site they agreed to pair up to watch Dundee rockers The View, a band they share a love of.
THE PROPOSAL: Colin got down on one knee at T in the Park in 2012. The proposal took place in front of friends in the Yellow 4 section of the camp site, where they stay each year. Although Melissa was very surprised by the unexpected proposal, she said she was delighted to accept.
THE WEDDING: The event was held at Orocco Pier in South Queensferry on April 13. There were 43 guests during the day and a total of 130 in the evening. Melissa said the whole day was “wonderful” and she was pleased that the weather stayed dry enough for pictures to be taken outdoors.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Colin’s elder brother Paul was best man. Trina Boyd, Melissa’s best friend, was bridesmaid and Colin’s niece Mairi Craig was junior bridesmaid.
THE DRESS: Melissa wore an A-line gown by Mori Lee, which was purchased from Gwenne Wedding Services in Broxburn. She said she was “over the moon” with it.
THE HONEYMOON: The newly-weds spent a romantic five days in Venice, and also visited Verona for a day.
THANKS: Special thanks go to Colin’s parents John and Sheila, and Melissa’s mum Irene. The couple would also like to thank all those who attended and the staff at the venue.
