The wedding of Lauren and Alan

HOW THEY MET: The couple met online seven years ago and took it from there.

THE PROPOSAL: Alan popped the question three years ago while the couple were on holiday in Bulgaria. He had planned to ask Lauren on the beach at night time but feared he would lose the ring, so he proposed while Lauren lay in bed reading. Obviously Lauren wasn’t quite expecting it.

THE WEDDING: The couple tied the knot on October 3, 2014 at Culcreuch Castle in Fintry. There were 48 guests during the day and a total of 70 for the evening reception. Lauren said that they loved the day which ran “mostly to plan”.

THE WEDDING PARTY: Lauren’s bridesmaids were her friends Danniella Fenton, Nadine Forsyth, Hannah Weetman and her cousin Natalie Dewar. The best man was supposed to be Liam Murray, but he was unable to to commitments in Afghanistan, so usher Greg Hadlow stepped in to do the honours. Alan’s friends David McIntosh was also an usher.

THE DRESS: Lauren wore a gold, high-necked gown with lots of tulle detail and a long train. She purchased it from Preety Woman in Edinburgh.

THE HONEYMOON: The newlyweds are looking forward to jetting off to the Canary Islands in March.

THANKS: Special thanks go to Lauren’s mum, Elaine Edmond and Alan’s parents Catrina and Alex Nimmo.
