The wedding of Julie McCormick and James Stevenson
THE COUPLE: Julie is 25 and from Falkirk and James is from Edinburgh and is also 25. Both James and Julie are studying for a PhD at St Andrew’s university.
HOW THEY MET: The couple met at the end of their first year at university in 2007. After an exam, James went over to talk to Julie. She thought it was to discuss the answers, but James had other motives!
THE PROPOSAL: James proposed on Hogmanay, 2011. The couple were in their flat and just before the bells, James went down on one knee. Julie had been expecting it, and had intimated that she’d like to pick her own ring.
THE WEDDING: The couple married on July 25, 2013. The ceremony took place at St Francis Xavier’s Church in Falkirk where 80 guests watched the couple tie the knot. Just over 100 family and friends joined the newlyweds for an evening reception at Glenbervie House Hotel. Julie said that it was a great day.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Julie’s bridesmaids were her friends, Colleen Sweeney and Jenny Crook. The best men were James’s younger brother Neil and Julie’s older brother John. The ushers were university friends David Hutchison and Stuart Buchanan.
THE DRESS: Julie wore an ivory gown with sweetheart neckline,
THE HONEYMOON: The couple spent a week in New York. It was the first time both had visited the States and they had a fantastic time.
THANKS: Special thanks go to both sets of parents, Elizabeth and Gerard McCormick of Falkirk and Fiona and Andrew Stevenson of Edinburgh. Julie said that the parents did so much to make the day what it was.
