The wedding of Lorraine Lees and Alan Brown
THE COUPLE: Bonnybridge’s Lorraine Lees is 30 and works with adults with disabilities, and Alan Brown is 29, from Denny, and a forklift truck driver. The couple live in Bonnybridge.
HOW THEY MET: The couple met on a blind date almost five years ago after being set up by their friends.
THE PROPOSAL: Alan popped the question on a plane while they were on their way to Florida. Alan had sneaked away and then a member of the crew asked Lorraine to stand up because her boyfriend had a question for her. Lorraine was really surprised and delighted when Alan presented her with the ring she had previously picked out.
THE WEDDING: The wedding was held on September 10, 2011. The service was held at St Helen’s Church in Bonnybridge where 70 guests witnessed the marriage. Over 120 guests attended the reception at The Falkirk Wheel.
THE WEDDING PARTY: Lorraine’s cousin, Kirsty Wright, was the maid of honour, and Lorraine’s best friend Fiona Clark was a bridesmaid. The best men were Alan’s younger brother Asa, and Alan’s friend Suki Singh. The ushers were Lorraine’s brother George Lees and Gary Clark. Two-year-old Gavin Clark was the page boy and Poppy (10) and Bluebell (5) Dockrell were flower girls.
THE DRESS: The dress was a duchess satin ivory gown with organza overlay and lace detail on the bodice.
THE HONEYMOON: The newlyweds spent a fantastic two weeks in Cuba.
