The birth of Jack Alexander Semple

THE DETAILS: Jason Alexenader Semple came into the world at 3.20 p.m. on July 23, 2014, at Forth Valley Royal Hospital weighing 6lbs 14oz.

THE PARENTS: Mum Gail Semple (31) comes from Grangemouth and is a self-employed beauty therapist, while dad Duncan Semple (31) is a taxi driver. The family lives in Standburn and Jack is their first child.

THE PREGNANCY: Gail had a pretty good pregnancy and “couldn’t really complain” about anything until her final few weeks when she experienced back pain at work.

THE BIRTH: Visiting hospital for a scan because there was some concern about her baby, Gail was kept in and whisked away to be induced. There was more drama when the baby’s heartbeat began to drop and Gail eventually had to undergo a Caesarean section. Fortunately, once Jack was delivered he was fine and Gail is recovering well from the procedure.

THE NAME: Jack was a name both Gail and Duncan liked and was a tribute to both grandads, who are called John. Alexander is Duncan’s middle name and the middle name of Gail’s brother.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Jack is the first grandchild for both Shona and John Anderson of Grangemouth and Ann and John Semple of Polmont.

THANKS: Gail thanks Duncan and her mum for being there for her during a difficult time in the hospital and also thanks her brother Craig for the plentiful supply of
nappies.
