The birth of Logan James McGuire

THE DETAILS: Logan James McGuire was born weighing 9lb 3oz at 11.15 a.m. on December 17, 2013, at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

THE PARENTS: Mum Sarah Emmerson (21) is a nursery nurse at Tip Toes nursery in Stenhousemuir and dad Liam McGuire (20) is a self-employed steel erector. Logan is the couple’s first baby and the family live in Langlees.

THE PREGNANCY: Sarah said her pregnancy was “fab”. She did have to attend hospital a few times in the final few weeks because of high blood pressure but that soon calmed down.

THE BIRTH: Sarah went in to labour naturally a day before the baby’s due date. She was in labour for seven-and-a-half hours and was helped along the way by birth partners Liam and Liam’s mum Lynn McGuire.

THE BABY: Logan is a great baby. He loves his food and is now munching rusks and porridge for breakfast. He laughs all the times and loves to squeeze his squeaky toys,

THE NAME: ‘Logan’ was a name the couple liked and the only one they could agree on for a boy. ‘James’ is after both great grandfathers.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Logan is a first grandchild for Lorraine and Graham Emmerson of Carronshore, and a first for Lynn and Davey McGuire of Stenhousemuir who have since had a second grandchild.

THANKS: Sarah and Liam would like to say a huge thank you to all the midwives at the hospital and to all family and friends for all their support.
