The birth of Jay and Hollie Anderson
THE PARENTS: Mum Gail (40) is a retail sales manager in Cumbernauld while dad Andrew (40) is a joiner. The twins are the couple’s first babies and the family lives in Grangemouth.
THE PREGNANCY: Andrew and Gail had IVF treatment before finding out they’d been successful at the first attempt. Andrew was working in London at the time and Gail broke the news about the twins on the phone.
THE BIRTH: Gail was induced at 36-and-a-half weeks but was finally taken in for a section after three days of waiting. Hollie was born in the membrane and kept in special care for two weeks. Gail said: “It was a long journey but well worth it.”
THE BABIES: The babies are thriving. Jay is the bigger of the two at 14lb with Hollie at 9lb 12oz. They are both sleeping well at night and are starting to develop their own personalities. However, mum says that there are still similarities.
THE NAMES: The names were all the ones that the couple liked and agreed on together. Jay’s middle name is after his dad.
THE GRANDPARENTS: The twins are the fourth and fifth grandchildren of Marion Sutherland of Grangemouth and fourth and fifth great grandchildren of May Anderson of Redding.
THANKS: The couple would like to thank all hospital staff, especially midwives and those in theatre.
