The birth of Fraser William Andrew Bell

THE DETAILS: Fraser William Andrew Bell was born at 1.48 a.m. on February 18 at Forth Valley Royal Hospital weighing 10lb 5½oz.

THE PARENTS: Mum Rachel MacDonald is 26 and an Open University student, while dad Andrew is 29 and is a fundraiser. The couple, who have an older child, Shannon (6), live in Larbert.

THE PREGNANCY: Rachel’s pregnancy was okay. She was troubled with sickness at the start and the end of the pregnancy, and she had a feeling that Fraser would be a big baby as she was quite sore towards the end.

THE BIRTH: Baby Fraser was 10 days’ early. Rachel went into labour naturally and it was all very quick in the end. Fraser did have the cord round his neck but was freed quickly.

THE BABY: Fraser is a great baby. He loves his big sister and she always gets the biggest smiles. He sleeps and eats well, although can get grumpy with teething.

THE NAME: Rachel and Andrew has liked the name Fraser for a boy ever since Rachel was pregnant the first time. William is Andrew’s granddad’s name, and Andrew is after dad and Rachel’s grandfather.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Fraser is a second grandchild for Valerie MacDonald of Larbert, Iain MacDonald of Gloucester, and Senga Bell of Plean.

THANKS: Thanks go to the staff at the hospital, and to Rachel’s mum who was her birthing partner. Thanks also to Rachel’s friends who helped with Shannon in the first few weeks.
