The birth of Amelia Elle MacPherson.

THE PARENTS: Mum Hazel Kirkwood (26) is a dance teacher with Central Scotland School of Ballet and Anthony MacPherson (25) is an engineer with ODL in Glasgow. The family lives in Falkirk.

THE PREGNANCY: Hazel says she had a pretty straightforward pregnancy with only mild morning sickness at the start. She continued to teach dances classes until she was into her third trimester.

THE BIRTH: Hazel had been in labour for 24 hours when Amelia’s heart rate started to drop and the decision was made to do an emergency section.

THE NAME: The couple didn’t know if they were having a girl or a boy, but had a few names picked out. When Amelia was born they agreed she looked like an Amelia.

THE BABY: Amelia is a very contented baby who sleeps well and loves her bottles. Hazel said: “Amelia has started smiling and loves telling big stories. We’re both besotted with her.”

THE GRANDPARENTS: Amelia is a first grandchild for Mathieson and Lorraine MacPherson of Falkirk. Amelia is also the first girl born into the MacPherson family for a long time so Lorraine is thrilled to have a granddaughter.

THANKS: Hazel thanks Anthony for being her birthing partner and for all his help throughout the pregnancy and birth and thanks to the Bluebell Team at Forth Valley Royal.
