The birth of Alexandra Sarah McVicar
THE DETAILS: Alexandra Sarah McVicar was born at 11.42 p.m. on April 12 at Forth Valley Royal, weighing 6lbs.
THE PARENTS: Mum Julie (33) is an accountant at Tenon, while dad Ian is a service engineer with Dyson. The family live in Denny.
THE PREGNANCY: Julie loved being pregnant and had a brilliant nine months!
THE BIRTH: Alexandra’s arrival was ‘slightly unexpected’, for more than one reason. Julie was booked in for a section because baby was breech but went into labour while out for a meal at Antonio’s in Falkirk. Her friends rushed her to hospital where she had to undergo an emergency section under general anaesthetic because baby was arriving so quickly. The second surprise was that Alexandra was a girl! The couple had been told at a gender scan that they were having a boy! Julie said: “It was a massive massive shock at first! The grans had to go and return all the blue clothes for pinks!”
THE BABY: Alexandra is an ‘‘amazing baby’’ who is very contented.
THE NAME: Despite thinking they were having a boy, the couple hadn’t picked out a name. Alexandra was a name Julie had always wanted to use for a girl after her dad. Sarah is after both Julia and Ian’s grandmothers.
THE GRANDPARENTS: Alexandra is the third grandchild for Linda Turner of Dunipace, and for Ian and Margaret McVicar of Dennyloanhead.
THANKS: Thanks to hospital staff - and to Julie’s friends who got her to hospital in time!
