The birth of Emily Mair
THE PARENTS: Mum Louise Girvan (30) is a bank adviser and dad Derek Mair (33) works offshore. Emily is the couple’s first child and the family lives in Carron.
THE PREGNANCY: Louise said that the pregnancy was “not too bad”, although she said she was “massive” by the end.
THE BIRTH: Louise was induced two weeks early after growth scans revealed that the baby was getting big and that mum’s blood pressure was rising. After the induction the birth was straightforward, and Louise was glad to have Derek by her side. She said: “I didn’t know if he was going to be in the country or not, but luckily he was here.”
THE BABY: Emily is a great baby. Mum says that she has suffered a bit of reflux but is sleeping well at night.
THE NAME: Emily was the name that both Louise and Derek agreed on. They did not know the sex of the baby but had picked out one name for either eventuality.
THE GRANDPARENTS: Emily is a first grandchild for Gina and George Girvan of Laurieston and also a first for Valerie and Billy Mair of Camelon.
THANKS: Special thanks go to all family and friends.
