The birth of Grace Jean Anne Gillanders
THE PARENTS: Mum Emma (32) is from Airth and a project manager at RBS at Gogarburn, and dad Charlie (31) is a landscape gardener originally from New Zealand. Grace is the couple’s first baby and the family live in Carron.
THE PREGNANCY: The pregnancy went well up to 27 weeks when Emma was admitted to hospital suffering from high blood pressure.
THE BIRTH: At 29 weeks, tiny Grace was delivered by emergency section after further complications. However, the baby was fine, but spent the next 47 days in the neo-natal unit.
THE BABY: Grace is doing well and putting on weight. She only wakes once in the night for a feed. Mum says she’s a very happy baby.
THE NAME: Mum and Dad liked the name ‘Grace’ and thought it complemented the surname. Jean and Anne are after Grace’s grandmothers.
THE GRAND PARENTS: Grace is a second grandchild for Jean and Jim Tait of Airth, and also a grandchild for Anne Gillan ders, and Jim and Tacy Gillan ders from New Zealand.
THANKS: Special thanks to Forth Valley Royal Hospital, particularly staff at ward 8 who cared for Emma and neo-natal staff.
