Family Matters: Wedding of the Week

The wedding of Leigh McEwan and Craig Irvine

THE COUPLE: Leigh is 25, from Stirling, and a communications co-ordinator for the Scottish Childminding Association and Bonnybridge’s Craig (25) is a process operator at Ineos. The couple live in Bonnybridge.

HOW THEY MET: Craig and Leigh met through mutual friends when they were 17 but it wasn’t until a fateful meeting in Sylvester’s nightclub in Denny a few years later that they got together.

THE PROPOSAL: Craig planned to propose on Leigh’s 21st birthday after just over a year of dating. He bought the ring, asked Leigh’s parents for permission and then decided he couldn’t wait any longer and proposed two weeks before Leigh’s birthday.

THE WEDDING: Leigh and Craig married at Glenbervie House Hotel on July 1 and the day went perfectly.

THE WEDDING PARTY: Leigh’s friends Hazel Ferguson and Sarah Cassidy were bridesmaids and Craig’s friend Colin Ferguson acted as best man with Leigh’s brother Gary McEwan taking on duties as usher.

THE DRESS: Leigh wore a vintage strapless Alfred Sung gown with lace detailing. Thanks go to the girls at The Enchanted Rooms for all their help choosing the perfect dresses.

THE HONEYMOON: Leigh and Craig flew to Cyprus on Sunday, July 3, for ten luxurious days in the Napa Mermaid Hotel.
