The birth of Caitlin Elizabeth Mclaurin

THE DETAILS: Caitlin Elizabeth Mclaurin was born on March 30 in Stirling Royal Infirmary at 6.05 p.m. weighing 8lb 12oz.

THE PARENTS: Mum Claire (nee Cahill) is 32 and works as an administrator, while dad Callum is 31 and a professional engineer. Caitlin is the couple’s first baby and the family live in Larbert.

THE PREGNANCY: After years of waiting, Claire absolutely loved being pregnant and enjoyed a very memorable ‘42 weeks’ of it without any problems. She misses her bump now but will wait a wee while before having another.

THE BIRTH: Caitlin kept mum and dad waiting for a whole two weeks after her due date. Claire was induced on the Sunday and had to wait until the Wednesday to meet Caitlin. Callum said it was the longest four days of their lives but well worth it.

THE BABY: Caitlin is doing amazingly well, and, at 12 weeks, is sleeping through the night allowing mum and dad to play catch up. Caitlin loves to smile at her mum and dad and especially at one of her favourite characters (Herbie) on her wallpaper border in her nursery.

THE NAME: Caitlin is a name mum and dad both love and keeps with the theme of ‘C’ Mclaurin.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Caitlin is a second grandchild for Jim and Sadie Mclaurin of Haggs and Beth and Fergus McIntosh of Stenhousemuir.

THANKS: Thanks and love go to friends and family who supported the couple through the process and continue to do so now. Special thanks to the amazing team at Ninewells and at SRI.
