Amazing atmosphere in Amarone in Glasgow

And there is no better place to do so than Amarone in Glasgow, a contemporary Italian restaurant in the heart of the city just off busy Buchanan Street.

Tucked underneath one of Glasgow’s rustic buildings, the staff showed all 12 of us to our seats and sitting under the large stylish light shades we cracked open the drinks menu.

On offer is a variety of wines, cocktails, beers, gin and liqueurs; something for everyone. Soon our extra-long table was flooded with drinks and we took a break from discussing ex-bosses and skiving spots to cast an eye on the incredible menu.

To start I selected the minestrone soup. The rest of the dinner party selected sharing pizza breads, breaded buffalo mozzarella and parma ham.

The soup was delicious and the bowl was filled to the brim with the right balance of vegetables. The crusty bread that accompanied it tasted like it had just came out the oven and was a perfect addition to the soup.

Mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers, mozzarella and onion all toped the various pizza breads and all agreed they were like a little taste of Italy.

Another round of drinks came and went and the table became noisier and noisier as more and more tales of old times were told. However, our noise was not out of place in the restaurant.

Every table was buzzing and when mixed together it created a fun atmosphere, one where you could really relax and enjoy yourself. Which is precisely what we were all doing.

Our mains then arrived, and despite the confusion of people forgetting what they had ordered, we all had the correct dishes in front of us and the talking soon stopped as we began tucking in to our Italian masterpieces.

Eyeing up my food like a gladiator ready to pounce in the arena, I delved into my tagliolini con chorizo and it was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had.

The creamy carbonara sauce was delicious and the healthy portion of chorizo chunks added a nice spice to the meal and unlike some eateries that skimp out on portions, Amarone does not.

The rest of the table had opted for salads, duck and other styles of pasta. The variety of food that filled our table shows how the menu has something for everyone.

No complaints were voiced and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and those that were not yet stuffed from two courses found room for a third.

The dessert menu certainly enticed me but there was no room left for anything else. However, those hungry enough assured me their iced chocolate and their 
tiramisu was the perfect end to their meal.

Amarone is the perfect place for a large group of friends to meet up and enjoy great company and fantastic food.

The service for a table of 12 was certainly quick and the waiters were more than happy to take the customary group photo as well as have a joke with us.

The restaurant has a lively friendly atmosphere that makes people comfortable and able to enjoy their night.
