The annual Spring Concert takes place in Linlithgow Academy this Sunday from 7pm.
Over 100 musicians will be taking part – with 65 in the main band alone.
Bandmaster, Lex McDowell, has worked hard to pick a varied programme for the Spring Concert and there is with something for everyone; from the traditional tunes in Celtic Farewell to Buckjump, a modern piece recorded by jazz musician Trombone Shorty.
The main band will also perform several marches that will form part of their summer programme at the numerous engagements they will be undertaking in the coming months.
Band vice president, Seonaid Scott, said “The band has been seeing numbers at rehearsal consistently exceeding 50 each week which is fantastic. This has allowed us to choose a challenging programme which the band are playing well. It is great to see so many new players, especially as a number of our younger players will be heading on to university after the summer. It would give the band a real boost to have a full audiencea appreciate their hard work.”
Tickets cost £6 with primary aged children and younger admitted free of charge. Tickets are available from the band’s website www.linlithgowreedband.org.uk, and Far from the Madding Crowd. Any unsold tickets will be available at the door on the night.
