Ross Carter, who owns the Ross Carter Barbershop in the village’s Mary Street, is now a British Master/Grand Master Barber.

The British Master Barber Alliance awarded him the title after he completed a high standard of set criteria including skill, professionalism, health and safety standards and business management.

A spokesperson for the alliance said: “This award is very hard earned and not given out lightly. Currently there are a small number of officially recognised Master Barbers around the UK and we are pleased to announce that Ross is one of the few to achieve this high level.”

Ross, who has been a barber for 20 years, said: “It’s a tough process to get this accreditation because they don’t hand it out easily. You have to submit a lot of stuff, but I’m really pleased, it’s a big achievement for me.”
