Baby of the week: Briar Rose Jane McGougan

THE PARENTS: Mum Michelle McGougan (26) is a stay-at-home mum, while dad Jake McGougan (23) is a electrical engineer. The couple live in Haggs.

THE PREGNANCY: Three years ago Michelle was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome and was told her chances of conceiving were slim. She was referred to start IVF, however, the couple found out they were expecting their miracle baby in March 2017 and Michelle was 32 weeks pregnant on their wedding day. She said the pregnancy was difficult but all worth it in the end.

THE BIRTH: Briar-Rose was in the posterior position which caused a lot of pain during the birth.

THE BABY: Briar-Rose is a very happy baby who very rarely cries.

THE NAME: Michelle has always been a huge Disney fan and took inspiration from princess Aurora’s birth name.

THE GRANDPARENTS: The delighted grandparents are Susan and Kenneth McAlpine, Fiona Binnie and Duncan McGougan.
