THE DETAILS: Jessica Isabella Laing was born on May 7 at Stirling Royal Infirmary at 7.55 p.m. weighing 7lb 13oz.
THE PARENTS: Mum Julie Ann Scott is 31 from Falkirk and a teacher of Taekwondo, and dad Scott Laing is 31, and a fire fighter from Larbert. Jessica is the couple’s first baby and the family lives in Camelon.
THE PREGNANCY: Julie suffered quite a lot of discomfort from about 20 weeks during her pregnancy. She had some problems with her pelvis and her coccyx bone.
THE BIRTH: The labour team had suggested that Julie deliver by c-section, but she decided to try to give birth naturally. But after 28 hours of labour, Jessica was delivered by section. Both mum and baby were well afterwards and got home a few days later.
THE BABY: Jessica is smiling and giggling now, and is a very happy little baby. She doesn’t like strangers but already loves Peppa Pig.
THE NAME: Scott suggested the name ‘Jessica’ as it was his favourite girls’ name, perhaps because of a little thing he has for film star Jessica Alba, and Isabella is after Julie’s late grandmother.
THE GRANDPARENTS: Jessica is a second grandchild for Betsy Anne and George Scott of Carronshore, and a first grandchild for Lynne and Jimmy Laing of Larbert.
THANKS: Thanks go to midwife Jeanette Watson, and Julie’s best friend Rhona McDonald who was the second birth partner. Thanks also to the Poppy team at the hospital.
