Ambassadors at legendary Bo'ness Fair

Drawn from St Mary’s 
Primary, Queen Elect for 2018 is 11-year-old Zoe Carlin.

Zoe will be ably supported by the retinue, who like her were voted in by pupils 
themselves – and who also have such a big contribution to make on the day – Friday, June 29.

And all will enjoy 
maximum exposure as 
images of the 
procession, coronation and performances of the 
presentees will be streamed live across the globe

Stephen McPeake, head teacher at St Mary’s Primary, said: “Everyone at the school is very excited as you would imagine.

“We are very proud of the children who put themselves forward to be picked for this and we are sure that they will be a great credit to the school.”

Scott McBride, Bo’ness Fair Committee chairman, said: “I would like to thank all at St Mary’s for a very well
organised and exciting day.

“You could see the 
excitement in all the children’s faces as they began to vote and, when the results were announced, the atmosphere and support from the children for each other was something to witness.”

Mr McBride is now 
calling for the biggest crowd ever to attend the 
celebrations at Douglas Park where the second performances will be staged from all the schools presentees.

He added: “Other 
entertainment in the park will 
include local acts leading to our main act, Little Mix 
tribute act Little Fix, who have sold out venues across the UK.”

The spectacular 
festival, one of the largest children’s fair festivals in Europe, has its roots in the proud 
mining history of Bo’ness.

Fundraising has Bo’nessians dig deep to help stage the event but it has been confirmed that both the 
committee’s annual dinner dance and ladies day are sold out.

A recent bingo night has 
also succeeded in raising £2513 for the event.

The committee would like to thank Fisons and 
everyone who supported the bingo night and donated 
prizes.
