Summer dresses and shirtsleeves were the order of the day at Kincardine’s 29th children’s day last weekend.

For a second year in a row the village enjoyed a mainly blue sky and just the right amount of sunshine to make Tulliallan Park a pleasant place to be last Saturday.

Once again the royal party’s procession around the streets of the village had the desired effect as many hundreds of residents flooded into the park to join an already healthy crowd.

The programme for the afternoon began with the crowning of Queen-elect Emily Waugh, an 11 year old pupil at Tulliallan Primary School.

This year’s Gracious Lady who performed the coronation was well known village woman, Isobel McEwan.

Children’s day president John Cunningham extended his grateful thanks to all who had helped towards making the day a huge success.

He said: ‘‘The committee expresses its gratitude to all who provided the financial support including Fife Council and Longannet Power Station. There is also a special mention for the community council and Councillor Willie Ferguson.’’
