Nostalgia 1997: Denny mechanic’s on the road to success

A young motor mechanic is speeding down the road to success after picking up a prestigious training award.

Mark Hennan (19) of Cairnoch Walk, Denny, scooped the top prize as the Scottish Trainee of the Year for 1996 from the Lanarkshire Automobile Training Association (LAGTA).

He was presented with the Scottish Motor Trade Association’s Ron Mathison Memorial Award of a watch and a certificate at the training group’s base in Coatbridge.

Mark, who works at Hardie’s of Larbert, was one of 70 trainees to achieve top qualifications at LAGTA’s training centre in Bonnybridge.

Colin Campbell, LAGTA’s managing director, said: ‘‘Mark has achieved remarkable results and I am sure he will have a rewarding career.’’
