West Lothian Council urgently needs more social work and social care staff

West Lothian Council has launched a drive to recruit social work and social care services staff.

The council urgently needs staff to work across a number of areas including: care for vulnerable older people, residential care for adults and older people, residential child care, support for vulnerable adults and people who have mental health or addiction difficulties. The council would like to hear from you if you have social work,  psychology, nursing or health & social care qualifications, and SSSC registered.

Or someone without registration or qualification but with transferable skills and experience and a strong interest in providing personal care and support to vulnerable people – this may include students.

Jo MacPherson, head of social policy for West Lothian Council, said: “This scale of the challenges is unprecedented and we are concentrating our resources to ensure essential services are maintained and local people continue to receive vital care. We are acting now to protect essential social work and social care services and I’d urge anyone interested in joining this incredibly important team to find out more on our website.”

The council has job opportunities on a fixed term basis or in casual/supply work, and a range of working hours and patterns are available.
