Important update on Falkirk Community Hospital ward's COVID-19 status

A hospital visitor contacted The Falkirk Herald after she was allowed into a ward that was supposedly closed due to coronavirus.

The woman stated she was allowed into the ward at Falkirk Community Hospital and was told it was open because the COVID-19 tests being carried out there were not positive.

A NHS Forth Valley spokesperson said: “A ward at Falkirk Community Hospital, which had been closed because of a small number of suspected cases of COVID-19, has now re-opened after subsequent tests proved negative.

“Staff and patients were kept aware of developments whilst investigations were undertaken and visiting temporarily paused.”

NHS Forth Valley Consultant in Public Health, Dr Henry Prempeh, said: “The ward was closed as a precautionary measure and I am happy to report that latest tests show no patients to be positive. We continue to take every measure possible to protect staff and patients, in line with national guidance.”
