Kristeen Brooks normally looks after the health of people’s eyes, but when she saw how badly the COVID-19 crisis was hurting the hands and faces of NHS staff she decided to do something about it.

Kristeen said: “My mother-in-law became unwell, developing a cough and I saw how the nurses helped her. This is just a way to give something back. From working in an opticians and having to wash my hands constantly I know what that can do to them and it must be much worse for NHS staff.

“Their faces must be sore too, having to wear face masks for their entire shift.”

So Kristeen collected together all the face and hand creams in her house then put an appeal on her Facebook group for people to donate more.

“I got a good response so I’m now making individual bags up for staff, which contain the face and hand cream along with a little bit of chocolate for them.”

One of Kristeen’s friends is a nurse at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and has agreed to collect the bags and hand them into the wards.
