Just a matter of hours after the Scottish Government confirmed the Forth Valley area had its first confirmed case of coronavirus, people took to Facebook and began posting that a member of staff at FVC had contracted the virus.

However, the college has now stated this is not the case and the employee in question has not been diagnosed with coronavirus.

A spokesperson for Forth Valley College said: “We are aware a member of staff based at Forth Valley College’s Stirling campus is currently in self-isolation. The staff member in question is no longer in college and we are liaising with our local health protection team in regards to the necessary actions and precautionary measures required.

“We are currently operating as normal, however, we will continue to review the situation in line with the local health protection team to ensure the safety of our staff and students which, as always, is a top priority.”
