COVID vaccine: Three in five people across Falkirk have now had their first jag

Three in five people in Falkirk have received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal.

Public Health Scotland data shows 80,408 people Falkirk had received their first jag by April 7.

That was up 1% from 79,631 a week earlier.

It means 61% of people aged 16 and over in Falkirk have now received their first dose, using the latest Scottish population estimates.

The figures include 14,632 people who had their second dose, meaning 11% of over-16s have now had both jags.

Across Scotland, 2.6 million people received a jab by April 7, 57% of the population.

That was an increase of 5% from 2.5 million the week before.

The data also shows that 500,000 people across Scotland have received both jags, 11% of the population.This week NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) was the first Scottish health board to administer the Moderna vaccine, which is newly approved across the country.
