Weekend figures show Forth Valley has recorded 28 new Covid-19 cases

The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Forth Valley is continuing to rise according to the latest figures.

According to the Scottish Government’s data released over the weekend, there have now been a total of 1192 positive cases of coronavirus in the Kingdom since the outbreak began.

On Saturday, there were 14 new positive cases locally, while Sunday’s figures showed a further increase of 14 cases, from 1178 to the current total.

There had been an increase of seven among Friday’s figures.

The data shows that confirmed cases in Forth Valley have been steadily increasing in the last month.

In the last seven days, there have been 50 positive cases recorded in the region.

Across Scotland the total number of people confirmed as having the virus now sits at 21,397.

The news comes as the country recorded its highest number of new positive cases in a 24 hour period since May on Sunday with 208.

Despite the rise, there were no reported deaths of people who tested positive for the virus in the past 28 days.

The biggest rise in cases, according to the statistics, was in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, where 92 cases were reported.

Last week, restrictions on people visiting other households were reintroduced in Glasgow city, West Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire after concerns about the number of cases.

A total of 631,353 people in Scotland have been tested since the beginning of the outbreak, with 609,956 of them testing negative.
