Rise in Forth Valley virus patients being treated in hospital

The number of patients being treated in Forth Valley hospitals who are confirmed or suspected to have coronavirus has again risen.

Figures released by the Scottish Government this afternoon show that there are 89 people currently in hospital, a rise of 11 in the last 24 hours.

The number of those who are being treated in intensive care is less than five – the Scottish Government does not give an exact number if it is below five.

In Forth Valley there have been 542 positive tests, an increase of 33 since yesterday.

The number of people who tested positive locally and who have since died is 59.

A total of 40,700 people in Scotland have been tested. Of these, 32,250 were confirmed negative and 8450 were positive.

Of those who tested positive, 915 patients have died.
