Positive Covid cases linked to Falkirk district primary school

Contact tracing is being carried out at a Bonnybridge school following positive Covid tests.

A small number of individuals connected to Antonine Primary School are self-isolating at home after testing positive for Covid-19.

NHS Forth Valley’s Test and Protect team is carrying out official procedures, with close contacts having been identified and advised to self-isolate in line with national guidance.

David Mackay, head of education, said: “We are working closely with NHS Forth Valley’s Public Health team to ensure all necessary actions are taken and can confirm deep cleaning has taken place at the school.”

Falkirk Council said it would provide no further details to respect and maintain patient confidentiality.

The local authority also stated robust control measures were already in place to protect the health of pupils and staff at the school.

Yesterday, NHS Forth Valley confirmed visits to the region’s hospitals were being suspended in light of rising coronavirus cases.
