No Covid-19 related deaths in Falkirk for second week

The latest figures on the number of deaths by region have been released.

There have been no deaths related to Covid-19 in the Falkirk Council area for the second week in a row.

The number of deaths linked to coronavirus locally remains at 134.

While in Forth Valley there have been no deaths linked to Covid-19 in the last seven days with its total still 237.

The news comes as Scotland recorded no new Covid-19 related deaths at all in the last week.

However, Forth Valley has also seen no increase in new positive cases recorded in the last three days.

There have been 1087 positive cases recorded in the health board region since the outbreak began.

After a small spike in cases in the last two weeks, NHS Forth Valley confirmed the local cases do not appear to be linked.

A spokesperson said contact tracing had not identified a link between the new cases so they are not clusters or hotspots, and are not the same as the recent cases in Dumfries and Galloway where was a cluster of cases in the community with a common link.

Scottish Government figures show there are currently fewer than five patients in Forth Valley hospitals with Covid-19, however there are 23 in 
hospital who are suspected to have the illness.

A total of 308,046 people in Scotland have been tested to date.

Of these, 18,373 were positive and 289,673 were negative.
