More than 10,000 Scots discharged from hospital after Covid-19 treatment

The number of Scots who have suffered through hospital treatment for Covid-19 has reached more than 10,000, it has emerged.

Scottish Government confirms 1,480 new positive Covid-19 cases and 71 further deaths in the past 24 hours

Of the new cases 427 were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 273 were in Lanarkshire, 166 were in Lothian and the rest were spread across 11 other health boards.

The increase in cases represents 6.9% of those newly tested.

 The total number of positive cases in Scotland to 169,699.

Number of people in hospital increases by 49, but no increase in ICU figures

The total number of people in hospital with coronavirus is 2,053, an increase of 49 patients and there are 161 people currently in ICU, no change from yesterday

There have been a total of 5,628 deaths from Covid-19 in Scotland under the Scottish Government measure

That is people who tested positive in the last 28 days.

Health and social care workers to receive free hot drinks and snacks on shift with £500k investment

Health and social care workers in Scotland will get free hot drinks and snacks on shift, with £500k investment from the Scottish Government.

The First Minister says it's something staff have mentioned as something that would help them rest and recover.

More than 350,000 Scots have received first dose of vaccine

Nicola Sturgeon confirmed that by 8:30am this morning 358,454 people had received their first dose of vaccine.

Nicola Sturgeon has outlined the guidance to remember when going shopping for essential supplies

  • Limit shop visits
  • Where possible, order online
  • Avoid busy shops
  • Shop alone if you can
  • Sanitise when entering and leaving shops
  • Keep a 2m distance from others
  • Follow FACTS

Ms Sturgeon reminded the public that when wearing face coverings they should be worn over the nose and mouth.

Sturgeon: ‘I would welcome £500 self isolation payments’

Ms Sturgeon added that if the UK Government extend the £500 self isolation payment to everyone, devolved countries will get more money to tackle pandemic.

Scotland has recorded 71 deaths from coronavirus and 1,480 positive tests in the past 24 hours, Nicola Sturgeon said.
