Last month Ms Ferrier admitted to travelling from Glasgow to Westminster while awaiting a Covid-19 test result, and making the return trip to Scotland when she knew she had the virus.

Nicola Sturgeon forced to defend idea of Scots travel ban in law

The First Minister was challenged on a move to “apply the force of law to travel restrictions” by Richard Leonard yesterday as she said it was still being considered by the Scottish Government.

Here are the main points from today’s coronavirus daily briefing:

FM closes her daily briefing saying she will be back with Parliament from 12.20pm tomorrow for First Minister’s Questions.

Ms Sturgeon reiterated the importance of sticking to travel restrictions and home visit bans.

Jason Leitch, accompanying her in the daily briefing said today’s figures are ‘not normal’ and now is ‘not the time to take our foot off the brakes.'

REMINDER: Higher and Further Education Minister Richard Lochhead will make a statement at Holyrood this afternoon from 2.50pm giving further details about students returning home for Christmas.

It is understood he will give more information about testing students prior to them returning to their respective homes for the winter break. 

It has been reported students need to test negative twice in five days before they can travel home, according to BBC Scotland.

Demand for answers to claims Scottish Covid testing is failing

The Scottish Government has been accused of “peddling widely inaccurate data” about its Test and Protect system, as a demand for an urgent Parliamentary question on the revelation it is performing five times worse than claimed has been granted.

Holyrood's presiding officer has agreed an emergency question from Scottish Labour's deputy leader Jackie Baillie, which will force a minister to attend Parliament today to be quizzed on the revision of Test and Protect statistics.
