More people testing positive for Covid-19 in Forth Valley

There has been another increase in the number of people testing positive for coronavirus in Forth Valley.

Figures released this afternoon by the Scottish Government reveal that 747 people in the region have Covid-19, an increase of 33 overnight.

The number being treated in hospital for the virus or suspected of having the coronavirus is now 88, a rise of ten since yesterday.

Six of these are being treated in intensive care.

On Wednesday it was announced that 124 people in Forth Valley had died due to coronavirus and across Scotland the figure was 2272 with more of half of these being residents in care homes.

A total of 56,702 people in Scotland have been tested for Covid-19. Of these, 45,048 were confirmed negative and 11,654 were positive.

NHS Forth Valley said it has capacity to carry out testing of around 200 key workers every day at its sites in the grounds of Falkirk Community Hospital, Bowhouse Community Centre and Stirling Health and Care Village.

The exact number of tests carried out daily has not been revealed.
